If February is the month of love, I gotta say, I’m feelin’ it, more than ever.
I’m officially into the second month of running my fitness business and I have never felt more energized about my career or more encouraged by everyone around me.
There’s something pretty awesome about people who work in the fitness industry, particularly the wonderful few who I’ve had the pleasure of working with so far. Not only are they super knowledgeable in their respective areas, they are also kind, and genuinely want others in the industry to succeed.
My personal trainer, Nicole, ignited a passion inside of me during my own weight loss journey and it truly changed my life. Fast forward a year and a half, and once again she gave me the confidence I needed, this time to get certified in personal training and get the idea of starting my own fitness business off the ground. I’m forever thankful, for the lunch dates, coffee dates, countless texts, and of course, the introduction to bullet proof coffee and Whisps – both of which are delicious and I highly recommend 😉
Putting together a plan of action and building the foundation for my business was a lot less stressful thanks to my friend Gbenga, and his willingness to share his knowledge and his best contacts, to help me get up and running. Visits to his supplement store often turned into long chats where I’d bounce ideas off him and get his advice, which was super helpful. And they still do – even when he’s swamped and trying to get work done secretly at the back of his store, he’s always willing to pop out and give me advice on my newest idea.
Gbenga introduced me to Craig who owns Lil’s Gym, and I have to say he is one of the kindest, chillest (is ‘chillest’ a word?) people I’ve met, ever. I was super nervous and intimidated the first time I visited his gym, similar to the feeling I had when I first started working out in the weight (ie. boy) area of the gym. Being new to the industry, I wasn’t sure what to expect when looking for a space to train my clients. But he was so welcoming, I had nothing to worry about. And honestly – he knows his shit when it comes to training, and I feel super lucky that I can learn from him. Also he doesn’t mind when I (constantly) change the music in the gym to 90’s hip hop, which is a plus 😉
Of course, FIT WITH leleLISA Ltd. would still be a faraway dream if it weren’t for Jonathan. I’m not kidding, or exaggerating, when I say I won the husband lottery. His unwavering support and encouragement is heaven sent, as is his patience when he tries to help me understand accounting, taxes, and HST. All of my family and friends have been so supportive – with advice, referrals and everything in between. I can’t thank everyone enough!
And my clients…my beautiful, strong clients. Working their butts off, day after day, to reach their goals. Nothing is better than seeing dedication and commitment turn into real results that women can see and feel. And – ahem, their spouses can also see and feel 😉 From the swear words and side-eye during training sessions, to the excited messages and progress pics I receive when results start to show – I’m reminded daily of how rewarding this job is.
I can’t wait to offer my thanks and gratitude to everyone at my Launch Party this weekend. It’s going to be a fun afternoon!
See you there babes,
